Maximilian Haas ist Theaterwissenschaftler und Dramaturg und derzeit Gastprofessor für Theaterwissenschaft an der Universität der Künste Berlin. Er studierte Angewandte Theaterwissenschaft an der Justus-Liebig-Universität Gießen und promovierte praxisbezogen an der Kunsthochschule für Medien in Köln. Seine Forschungsinteressen in Theorie und Praxis umfassen Ökologie und die Künste,  Dramaturgie im zeitgenössischen Tanz und Theater, Ästhetik der performativen Künste, Methodologie und Epistemologie künstlerischer Forschung, Betriebsökologie und nachhaltige Produktionsweisen, Science, Animal und Environmental Studies. Haas hat als Dramaturg/Kurator an der Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz, den Berliner Festspielen und dem HAU Hebbel am Ufer sowie an zahlreichen anderen Theatern in Europa gearbeitet. Zuletzt erschienen: Tiere auf der Bühne: Eine ästhetische Ökologie der Performance (Kadmos 2018), How to Relate: Knowledge Arts Practices (Transcript 2021) sowie Schöpfen und Erschöpfen: Maja Göpel und Eva von Redecker (Matthes und Seitz 2022). Mit Margarita Tsomou kuratiert er die fortlaufende Diskursreihe Burning Futures: On Ecologies of Existence am HAU. Mit Sandra Umathum schrieb er 2021 eine Studie zur Förderung der Nachhaltigkeit in den Freien Darstellenden Künsten für den Fonds Darstellende Künste/BKM. Im Zuge der Recherchen ließ er sich zum Nachhaltigkeitsmanager Kultur und Medien sowie zum Tranformationsmanager nachhaltige Kultur weiterbilden. 

Maximilian Haas is a theatre, dance, and performance theorist and dramaturge and currently a visiting professor of theater studies at the Berlin University of the Arts. He studied applied theater studies at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen and received his practice-based PhD from the Academy of Media Arts in Cologne. His research interests in theory and practice include ecology and the arts, dramaturgy in contemporary dance and theater, aesthetics of performative arts, methodology and epistemology of artistic research, operational ecology and sustainable modes of production, science, animal and environmental studies. Haas has worked as a dramaturg/curator at the Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz, the Berliner Festspiele, and HAU Hebbel am Ufer, as well as numerous other theaters in Europe. Most recently published: Animals on Stage: An Aesthetic Ecology of Performance (Kadmos 2018), How to Relate: Knowledge Arts Practices (Transcript 2021), and Creating and Exhausting: Maja Göpel and Eva von Redecker (Matthes und Seitz 2022). With Margarita Tsomou, he curates the ongoing discourse series Burning Futures: On Ecologies of Existence at HAU. With Sandra Umathum, he wrote a study on promoting sustainability in the independent performing arts for the Fonds Darstellende Künste/BKM in 2021. In the course of the research, he took further training to become a sustainability manager for culture and media as well as a transformation manager for sustainable culture.
